If you’ve ever been to a fan convention in southern Arizona or Disneyland within the past few years and saw an absurdly big and tall man wearing either a sparkly pink jacket or a colorful button-up shirt, that was likely me.My name is Austin Allison and I am a Tucson-based illustrator, performer, writer and designated tallest guy (6’8) in most rooms I find myself in.Currently, I am the Art Manager for MonkeyPaw Entertainment, who annually organize anime-conventions across the southwest. For the past three years, I have created assets and graphics used in the marketing for each of the company’s four conventions, including revamping their mascot designs and directing the layout and art used on event badges.Outside of my work with MonkeyPaw, my greatest mission is to create memorable moments and art that are fun to look at! I’m unapologetically inspired by the amalgamation of childhood cartoons that occupy the parts of my brain that otherwise would have been taken up by scientific insight and mathematical prowess. Thankfully, the colors, shapes and lines of the animated image superseded all of that and now I’m here as a freelance artist! Even when I’m not drawing cartoons myself, I am an adamant promoter of the cartoon lifestyle. I sing, dance and tell jokes that elicit a chuckle at best and a smack on the head at worst.I have always wanted to be an artist and I only have my love of cartoons to blame. My childhood mania for animated musicals and hand-drawn insanities have followed me into my adulthood with a vengeance. My main ambition is to entertain and inspire a smile with every medium at my disposal, whether through the illustrations I draw from behind my desk or through the showtunes I scream into a microphone on the convention stage. Beyond that, don’t worry about it.
